Enterprise Access Control

Centralized Authentication and Access Control Across Enterprise Tech Landscape

The Challenge

An enterprise client managing over 100 microservices and UIs faced significant challenges with decentralized authentication and inconsistent permission structures. Internal users were handled through Active Directory, while external users were managed via Okta. The lack of unified access control led to repetitive, custom implementations for each service, driving up development and management costs while leaving critical gaps in security.

To address these issues, Manifold implemented a centralized solution using Keycloak, streamlining authentication across multiple identity providers and introducing consistent, fine-grained permission management.

Unified Authentication with Two Identity Providers

Centralized authentication via Keycloak, integrating Active Directory and Okta for seamless access control.

Granular Permission Management

Managed access control based on job titles, roles, and oAuth scopes for precise, role-based permissions.

Common Auth Libraries

Developed reusable libraries for APIs and UIs, reducing development effort and improving consistency across services.

Scalable & Configurable Solution

A simple configuration-based approach enabled faster deployments and significant cost savings in both development and administration.

Security & Compliance Gains

Enhanced security compliance, with improved audit scores and secure access for internal users aligned with their roles and departments.
